Our Story

The Young Flower’s Roots

In Amharic, Adey Abeba means “Young Flower.” When our family opened in 2005, that’s what we were: a new seed of Ethiopian tradition planted in a cozy Seattle Victorian in the historic Central District. Our dream was simple: to create a restaurant that felt like welcoming a guest into our own home, where our tradition of sharing food from a traditional plate creates and strengthens friendships and community.

The Tradition Blossoms

Nearly two decades later, that flower continues to blossom. Now led by a new generation of our family, Adey Abeba is more committed than ever to that original dream. We honor our heritage through the warmth of our home recipes while bringing a fresh energy to the food we serve and the community we love.

Our Heritage in Full Bloom

This heritage is at the heart of everything we do. It’s in our commitment to authentic dining, with a menu balancing savory meat stews and bountiful vegan feasts. It’s in the ritual of our traditional coffee ceremony, a cherished act of community we love to share, both in our restaurant and at your private events. And it’s in the joy we take in hosting your most important celebrations.

Above all, it’s in the simple belief that a meal shared is a bond created. Thank you for being part of our story.
